Walk through the supermarkets. What do you see? You see corporate
America is feeding you and your kids. Are they more interested in your
well-being or your cash?
Not to be too pessimistic, there are a lot of good things that are mass produced by the big companies. However, there has been some major changes in the way that food has been produced. Family farms used to feed our country. The old style was to grow and distribute the food within a few miles of its original farm.
During the Great Depression, the production of food greatly changed. The independent family farmer soon became a thing of the past, as a rule.
In theory, there are some advantages to the mass production of food:
- Mass shipping to all parts of the globe
- Less food contamination with large sterile production facilities
- Large scale production of food
- Lower costs when produced in mass
Most everything that has a plus side, will also have a negative flip side. In order for food to have so much shelf life, there is a lot less nutritious components to the food. In other words, there are not the same amount of minerals and vitamins in our food as what there used to be. We end up eating a lot of empty calories that provide us NO nutritional value.
Over the next few days, I am going to talk about the different food additives that are being included routinely in our food supply.
The first one that I am going to mention is SULFITE:
Sulfite has really been spotlighted lately because there is an increasing body of research that shows Sulfite is more dangerous than previously thought. This is a chemical additive that is routinely used in food that keeps the food from spoiling, turning brown, oxidation reactions (browning in a cut apple), flavor loss and growth of bacteria in alcohol and wines.
Vegetables that are shipped long distances are actually treated with sulfur dioxide to "keep them fresh". This can actually turn into sulfite in food.
I will speak a little more of this tomorrow, but 20% of children that have asthma are sensitive to sulfites. The question is: Is there a link between our foods and our diseases?
We will continue this conversation tomorrow.

Doctor's Supplements
Research proves that we do not have all of the essential minerals and vitamins in our food. In fact, we are no longer eating our "designed" diet. As Hunters and Gatherers, we are now only hunting at the grocery store. We consume tons of garbage a year and expect our bodies to operate just fine. I ask you this question: "What is the difference between food and medicine?' If I gave you a cheeseburger straight out of the bag, you most likely would eat it. However, if I handed you 5 pills, even from me, most likely you would not take them! Food is medicine!
Do you ever experience side effects from medicine? Sure, it is possible. Have you ever thought that maybe the reason you don't feel well is because you don't eat well. Would you expect your car to run great if you put in bad gas? Of course not! Then why, might I ask, do you expect "your engine" to run great? It really is kind of silly, isn't it?
