The last Daily Dose asked you to write a journal of the foods that you ate over the past few days. Did you do it? If you did and you want to share it, email it to me. I can review it and make suggestions. Your information would be kept completely private.
We are going to continue our discussion. Now, I want to talk about Pizza! Most pizza has at least 5 genetically modified "foods". The cheese that we get on it will, by most standards, only have about 10% real cheese. What else is in this? The dough (My favorite part as a carbohydrate addict) is loaded with bleached white flour which has been bleached of all vitamins and minerals. They are called "enriched" by adding back a small amount of vitamin isolates. Our body is not geared to handling vitamin isolates. It knows how to function with the whole vitamin.
We do have to be careful about the tomato sauce. With the desire to grow fruit that is not riddled with insects or weeds, there is a huge push to use pesticides and herbicides. You have to be careful of any one thing that you might eat in large quantities. Pizza is also loaded with a significant amount of carbohydrates also. We have spoke of this in the past. Now, this will bring a lot of stress to many Pizza eaters. I still love my pizza it just does not love me anymore. I know now that when I eat it I am going to be a little tired and possibly bloated at the end of the night. I have to ask myself, 'Is it worth it?' I have decided that, for me, it is not worth it.
Okay, to cause more distress to my readers, I want to talk about Pop! The most impressive taste and ingredient in soda pop is phosphoric acid. If you just say that again, "Phosphoric Acid." Does that sound a little harsh? I think so too. This is a pure acid. When you consume an acid, you will have a low pH. It is very well documented that a low pH will lead to more of a disease state. The acidic pH will lead to leaching of calcium from your bones, osteoporosis and stomach problems.
Did you know that there are 10-12 teaspoons of pure sugar in a can of regular soda. I will write again about the truth of diet sodas soon. There are many other harms that are created by the use of food colorings.
Did you know that there are over 14,000 food additives that are in our food chain?

Research proves that we do not have all of the essential minerals and vitamins in our food. In fact, we are no longer eating our "designed" diet. As Hunters and Gatherers, we are now only hunting at the grocery store. We consume tons of garbage a year and expect our bodies to operate just fine. I ask you this question: "What is the difference between food and medicine?' If I gave you a cheeseburger straight out of the bag, you most likely would eat it. However, if I handed you 5 pills, even from me, most likely you would not take them! Food is medicine!
Do you ever experience side effects from medicine? Sure, it is possible. Have you ever thought that maybe the reason you don't feel well is because you don't eat well. Would you expect your car to run great if you put in bad gas? Of course not! Then why, might I ask, do you expect "your engine" to run great? It really is kind of silly, isn't it?
