1. Why see a Bariatrician for weight loss?

A Bariatrician is a specialized physician who has undergone specialized training to help people to lose weight. This is much more involved than just presribing a diet or weight loss medications. Dr. Haendiges is a board certified physician who has undergone extensive education to help her identify the special needs and risks of the overweight or obese patients. The doctor and her team know that being obese is a true medical problem and the professional medical dedication is absolutely necessary to aid the patient in a successful journey to permanent weight loss. There needs to be a specialized attention to the dietary needs and laboratory evaluations that might occur with progressive weight loss. This is really only safely accomplished with specialized medical guidance. Dr. Haendiges will address the patient with a very comprehensive program of diet, nutrition, motivation, and guidance for permanent lifestyle change that is absolutely necessary for maintenance of a healthy weight. Dr. Haendiges has that training and her staff has also been trained on the treatment of obesity and overweight. Our office is a very supportive and educational office.
It is very important to see a Bariatrician if you:
  • If you need to lose weight.
  • If you need to lose a large amount of weight: Over 20 pounds you will need to utilize the guidance of a specialist because of the physiological changes that can occur.
  • If you have any chronic health conditions.
  • If you are on medications for hypertension, diabetes, cholesterol medications or any other chronic conditions.
  • If you have not succeeded at other attempts and you are tired of going from one yo-yo diet to the next.
  • If you have any medical disabilities that hamper your attempts to exercise.
  • If you fear failure and you want the supportive, educational, and experienced staff that Dr. Haendiges and her team of specialized nursing staff can help you.
  • If you lack comprehensive knowledge on how to eat, when to eat, and what to eat. If you desire a deeper understanding of your body and why the odds in many ways are stacked against you.
  • If you want to understand the keys to successful and permanent weight loss.

We have taken control of our weight problems and want to see you accomplish your goals too. This team wants to share with you the keys to successful permanent medical weight loss.
2. How much weight can I expect to lose on this program?

Keep in mind that overweight and obesity is a very complicated condition. There are many factors that affect your speed of weight loss. Dr. Haendiges is also a specialist in hormones, thyroid disease, and adrenal fatigue. If you have no other conditions that can interfere, you can expect to lose anywhere from 1-5 pounds per week. Our average weight loss the first week is 7.8 pounds. However, there is usually a lot of water weight that is lost also the first week. This is in response to you withdrawing from processed food and fast food. You will really start to feel the difference in how much better your body is doing within 1-2 weeks. After about 2 weeks you will be amazed at how satisfied you are with your nutrition. This is really a very exciting time in your life. The real benefits is the reduction in your medical risks. The best side effect for you is watching the pounds fall off!

3. What is unique about a medical weight loss program?

Our program is highly successful with education and rapid weight loss. Dr. Haendiges has been there. She lost 27 pounds in 6 weeks. If those 27 pounds took 27 weeks to lose, she would have given up. In designing this program, she understood the psychology behind weight loss. The program is designed to be SAFE, SMART and SPEEDY. There is much more involved with a medical weight loss program than generic or fad diets. She uses her medical expertise to guide the patient on a safe program of medical observation, rapid medical weight loss and education wrapped in a warm and motivating atmosphere. Come see the difference. You will!

4. How much does the program costs?

Dr. Haendiges believes wholeheartedly that weight loss is a necessary part of life for those who are overweight or obese. With the costs of co-pays, medications and the uncertainty of the future of health care, there is no time to waste in initiating a program of rapid and safe weight loss. According the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the cost of the program is less than the average American spends on food. Dr. Haendiges also believes in rewarding those people who make a commitment to take charge of their health. The program is significantly less expensive than EVERY comparable program. As many of you know, there are programs out there that cost $2000 for the initial consult.
Other programs will charge $350 for the first visit. We charge a $49 consultation fee for the initial visit. You will be scaled with our very accurate scales that measure more than just your weight. We can determine your body's unique composition, BMI and metabolic rate. This visit will include an hour long seminar that is loaded with tons of information. We have different weight loss programs of varying duration and methods. Our more advanced programs include discounts that will even waive your consultation fee upon activating your membership. Third party financing options are available to those that qualify.

5. Are medical exams necessary when losing weight?

There are certainly some medical exams that need to be done. As part of the progress, most everyone will get an EKG and lab work. We draw standard labs but we also look a little closer at the thyroid as well as some other markers for inflammation and nutrition. We may do frequent labs as we go depending on the individual. An otherwise healthy person may not need to have any repeat labs. That is the beauty of our medically supervised program. We care about the individual and follow the medical progress. We want you to lose the weight quickly and safely. Our goal is your significant reduction in medical risks factors. We want you to live while you are living.

6. Is there a way to chart my progress as I lose weight?

Dr. Haendiges and her team has assembled an interactive forum to ask questions of the doctor as needed. Also, we are in the progress of putting up a Patient Portal so that you can track your progress with graphs and charts. You will be able to connect from home and track your progress. This is a great opportunity for patients to participate in their healthcare. We want to help you in this permanent positive life change.

7. What makes this program different?

We are dedicated to the success of people in this community and beyond. We have patients that have traveled from out of town because they have heard of our success. You are not just a number to us. That is our difference. We understand what it is like to be tired, hungry and gaining weight out of control. We want to help you to make that permanent change in your life. Dr. Haendiges went into medicine to help patients. She has a burning passion to help you to make those changes in your life so that you can achieve the goal of permanent weight loss.
